Modeling Scranton In N-Scale

Scranton, in North-East Pennsylvania, was once the heart of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad which merged with the Erie Railroad in 1960 to form the Erie-Lackawanna (which later dropped the hyphen).

This N-scale layout is a prototype-based execution of the main elements of the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in Scranton, roughly in the 1967 timeframe.

Here is a scene from the 1974 timeframe, showing that the City Yard was an overcrowded, out of control environment.

This yard and the associated service facility represent the centerpiece of the layout.
