Machine Shop Construction

This page details the construction of the Walther's Machine Shop (933-3264).

Here you can see the basic footprint for the machine shop which will be west of the roundhouse.

After painting the base, the rails are painted and then glued into place.

Here the track gauge is being checked. To the right of the boxcar, out of picture, is an Aztec track inspection car.

This kit is not detailed on the inside like the roundhouse. Nevertheless, I replaced the stock acrylic windows with thin ones made out of overhead transparency material.

The windows do not fit as flush, the doors are not two sided and there is no interior brickwork.

Same thing on the door on the left. But look at the small door to the right. That looks ok. Well, of course it does, this is the outside for this door!

The walls were painted with DR&G Building Brown from Poly Scale. The windows are aged concrete. The doors are Boxcar Red, also from Poly Scale.

The kit is completed, except for roof details, drain spouts and the main roof. The instructions call for the roof to be glued, but for this layout, it will be removable for access.

View from the turntable side. A UB-25 is just backing in.
